If you are a wine lover, you must feel in (wine) heaven in France. In our region there are several opportunities to discover new flavours and good wines.
In Saint Pourcain sur Sioule (at 45 km) to the northwest is the oldest wine region of Europe (already known to the ancient Romans). There are 18 active wine producers, where you can taste and buy wine. See: Caves de Saint Pourçain
Or go to Château de Champagny in Saint-Haon-le-Vieux (at 22 km) and visit the caves of the Villeneuve family. Here you will find additional information on the prize winning wine of Andre Villeneuve. At the Caves de Côte Roannaise you can enjoy the delicious French Roannaise wine.
If you don't like wine, or if you prefer a spicy drink, try the Suze or Aveze. A regional speciality made from the Gentian root.
