There are a number of towns and villages in the area that are worth visiting.

Lyon

A visit to Lyon is definitely recommended. Le Vieux Lyon was the first protected area in France and has since been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is known for its “traboules” , crossings or passages that connect one or more streets. There are 230 of them, but some are closed to the public. Walking through the traboules of the Vieux Lyon and the Crois Rousse you will discover the charm of the old town , its history and architecture. After the Louvre in Paris, the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Lyon has the most important art collection in France. And shopping in Lyon is a joy. You will find many large fashion houses, special and small specialty shops and antique dealers. Most people associate Lyon with good food. And for good reason: There are countless restaurants, from simple bouchons and brasseries to restaurants where you can get the most abundant meals in France. Lyon is the most culinary city in France .

Vieux Lyon

"Old Lyon", the medieval and Renaissance district is very cozy and atmospheric. The old town is best visited during the day. Especially on Sundays, there is a market and all book stalls along the quays are open. The large murals in Lyon are particularly worth seeing. There are over 150 of them and they often give a surprising and deceptively real effect. The oldest part of the city is full of beautifully restored historic buildings , including the St-Jean cathedral , which was worked on for three centuries (12th - 15th century), the St-Paul church from the same period, a school for choir boys (Manécanterie, for a part from the 12th century). The city has many museums; the most famous is the Musée des Beaux-Arts , which is located in a 17th century Benedictine monastery. It includes Egyptian, Greek and Roman artworks and paintings from the 15th to 20th centuries.

Lyon is located at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône and has almost half a million inhabitants and has everything you would expect from a big city; such as many sights, a large shopping center, many restaurants and terraces.

Vichy

Vichy, originally known for its thermal springs , now known among other things for its " beauty" products, is a town which also has quite a lot to offer for the modern visitor. The shopping center is not very big but cozy and exudes a somewhat southern French atmosphere with its marble sidewalks, terraces and beautiful old facades. Along the Allier are a number of beautiful parks and attractive facilities; including a water park, whitewater course, golf course, hippodrome and a racecourse . The theater, casino and the covered promenade along the park and the old bathhouses give a special atmosphere reminiscent of the " belle epoque " in which all this originated.

Brocantes en Vide-Greniers

On Sundays there are often brocantes and vide-greniers in the area where you can buy all kinds of typical French things for a measly sum. The Brocabrac site gives an overview of all markets in the area.

Beautiful little villages to visit and to have "a quick drink" on a terrace, in which it seems as if time has stood still are:
